During each of our three weekend worship services, Morning Star Kids offers engaging Christian education for children ages birth through 5th grade. Our staff and caring team of volunteers are dedicated to providing safe, exciting, age-appropriate experiences that kids look forward to each weekend.

When the light of the church (Yellow) and the heart of the family (Red) come together, Orange happens. Orange is a strategic partnership in which every person, every leader, every volunteer, every parent understands that we have the ability to make a greater, lasting impact on a child’s spiritual growth by working together. Our desire is that, as a Church, we will plant in the hearts of our children seeds of faith, deeply rooted in the love of Jesus Christ.
Parents bringing their children to Morning Star Kids for the first time should follow the “Got Kids?” signs to the Kids Hub desk. Once at the Kids Hub, we’ll help you register your child. This is a one-time step that ensures we have the important information we need to care for your loved one while you attend worship. Once your child is registered, a member of our team will walk you and your child to their classroom and introduce you to the volunteer team. After you and your child feel comfortable, you are free to leave the room and find your seat for worship. If you have any questions or concerns, we are here to help!
After your first time at Morning Star Kids, you can go directly to your child’s classroom upon arrival. Check-in begins 15 minutes prior to the worship service. When you arrive at the room, please provide the check-in volunteer with the last four digits of your phone number and the child’s name. The volunteer will locate your child in our system and print them a name tag to wear while at Morning Star Kids. You will also receive a tag that has a code that matches their name tag. Please be sure to hold on to this tag as you will need it to pick up your child after the worship service.

After the worship service has ended, please pick up your kids from their classroom as soon as possible so that we can reset the room and release our volunteers. To manage people traffic, it is helpful if only one adult enters the children’s area during pick-up.

IMPORTANT: You will need to present the tag you received during check-in in order for us to release your child. If you happen to misplace your tag, a ministry leader will need to see your driver’s license or other official identification to confirm your identity and that you are authorized to pick up the child.

If we should need you during worship, we will display the 3-digit code printed on your parent pick-up tag on monitors located on both sides of the Auditorium and Venue. If you should see that the code matches your tag, please come immediately to the Kids Hub for for more information.

It’s also important that we have current mobile phone numbers for everyone in your family should we need to reach you.

At Morning Star Kids, we follow a practice called “Safe Sanctuary” to help ensure the safety of our kids, staff and volunteers. This practice requires that all staff and adult volunteers who care for kids undergo a professional background check as well as child safety training. We also require at least two un-related adults (who have successfully completed the background check and child safety training) be present in the room at all times while your child is in our care. Morning Star Kids uses volunteer ratios in each classroom to ensure we have enough adults in the room to provide a safe and engaging atmosphere. If you should have questions or concerns about our Safe Sanctuary practices, please contact Laura Sliger.
Our early childhood rooms are organized by age:

The Nest: Infants (6-weeks old) through Toddlers (18-months)
The Nook: Toddlers (18 to 30 months)
The Hideout: Preschoolers (2 1/2 to 3-years old)
The Treehouse: Pre-kindergarteners (4 to 6-years old)

Ministry to children at Morning Star begins when they are infants. As language develops (13-24 months), we begin introducing Biblical truths through prayer, frequent use and illustration. This pattern of prayer and instruction continues with toddlers (2 year olds) by building a Biblical vocabulary and helping children see a great God through Bible stories they can understand. A Biblical foundation is laid with preschoolers (3 year olds-PreK) as Old and New Testament stories reveal God loves me, God made me, and Jesus wants to be my Forever Friend.

Basic Truths

  • God made me.
  • God loves me.
  • Jesus wants to be my Forever Friend.

Our elementary classrooms are organized by grade:

The Cabana: Kindergarten through 1st grade
The Hut: 2nd and 3rd graders
The Loft: 4th and 5th graders

When children enter Kindergarten, they begin developing their understanding of the Bible and learning how to live out Scripture in their daily lives. Children are encouraged to bring their Bible, memorize monthly key verses, participate in the worship experience, and invite their friends. As children progress through each grade they learn about spiritual disciplines and are provided with mission opportunities that allow them to begin learning responsibility and commitment within the Morning Star community. By the time they graduate fifth grade, we trust that every child knows and understands “I need to make the wise choice,” “I can trust God no matter what,” and “I should treat others the way I want to be treated.”

Basic Truths

  • I need to make the wise choice.
  • I can trust God no matter what.
  • I should treat others the way that I want to be treated.
