Congratulations on your engagement! We welcome the opportunity to be a part of your journey toward a life-long Christian marriage. At Morning Star, we believe it’s worth investing time and thoughtful preparation to help ensure the success of your marriage for years to come. With that in mind, review our Wedding Guidelines and Policies (PDF), and submit our Wedding Request Form to begin the process.
Important: We strongly encourage you to begin this process at least 6 months prior to your desired wedding date. If your wedding date is less than 4 months away, it is unlikely we will be able to accommodate your request due to the important preparation time that is needed for everyone involved.
Also, if your wedding will be held on the Morning Star Church campus, you will also need to schedule and meet with our Wedding Coordinator at least 2 months prior to your wedding date to discuss decorations, dressing rooms, building access, etc.
If you have general questions about the Wedding ministry of Morning Star Church, please contact Pastor Keith Scarborough.
If your wedding is already reserved with Morning Star Church, please contact your officiating pastor or wedding coordinator for assistance.
Welcome to Morning Star’s Marriage Mentoring, a program for married couples seeking to enrich their relationship.
Our program pairs couples with a trained, volunteer mentor couple for eight to ten sessions over two or three months. A structured curriculum guides couples through areas key to successful marriages: communication, conflict resolution, finances, intimacy, and family. We also use an online tool, Prepare/Enrich, that assesses your strengths and growth areas as individuals and as a couple. Mentors are not licensed counselors. They’re Christian couples who demonstrate maturity in their relationship with God and wisdom in their marriages.
If you are would like to rub shoulders with another married couple who have walked a mile in your shoes then the Marriage Mentoring program is for you.
The Marriage Mentoring program fee is $80 plus $35 paid directly to Prepare/Enrich for the marriage assessment and materials used throughout each session.
To begin the process, please complete the Marriage Mentoring registration form and pay the appropriate fees. Once our ministry leaders receives the completed registration form they will be in contact with you to guide you through the process and to assign a mentor couple to you. If you have further questions regarding the Marriage Mentoring program please contact Pastor Keith Scarborough.
The Stephen Ministry Program at Morning Star Church equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian one-on-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life difficulties and circumstances.
Stephen Ministry is a nationwide program and was named after Stephen, the first lay person appointed by the Disciples to “go out and help meet the needs of the people.”
Stephen Ministers Are:
- Good listeners
- Christian friends
Stephen Ministers Are NOT:
- Professional counselors
- Ordained pastors
- Problem “fixers”
There are times when each of us may need the care and compassion of another person. We have found that a Christian friend, a Stephen Minister, can provide this needed support, and help the “care receiver” get through the difficult time. Some of those times of need might include:
- Hospitalization or suffering from a serious illness
- Grieving following a death or serious loss
- Experiencing a job loss
- Issues or concerns of those experiencing a divorce
- Problems facing the elderly
- Personal struggles within a family
- Isolation following incarceration
- Spiritual crisis or feelings of abandonment
- Any other circumstance that could be made easier with the support of a Christian friend.
